Spot looks and behaves like macOS Spotlight: press a hotkey, a panel opens, and you type what you mean. When Spot is sure, it runs the command itself. Everything else goes to your own AI, and you watch each step in the panel. This page is a build-in-public log: what works today, what is still broken, and what comes next.
Spot reads what you typed and decides. A sure request runs as a command with no AI call. Anything else goes to Claude or Codex.
One panel, two paths: a command when Spot is sure, your AI otherwise.
Spot runs the command itself. A small offline model picks the command. “play rajini jailer 2 song and increase volume” starts the YouTube video and raises the volume in about 1 s. “volume 30” and “mute” work the same way.
Spot hands the request to Claude or Codex, using the login you already have. Spot keeps the AI warm, so it starts at once. The AI works in a visible loop, and each step appears as a row in the panel.
“check my battery, and if it is below 50 lower the volume to 20.” The AI reads the battery: 100%.
The tools run on your machine. Here the battery is above 50, so the AI leaves the volume alone.
The AI confirms the result before it answers.
It says what it did and why. The whole request took about 5 s.
A Claude round-trip took 9.6 s. Two changes brought it to 3.3 s.
| Area | Today | Fixing next |
|---|---|---|
| Command pick | Right first about 72% of the time, 88% in the top 3, on held-out real requests | Spot runs a command itself only when sure; more commands it runs itself |
| Tanglish | Still weak | Better Tanglish |
| Volume | Mac only for now | Volume on Windows and Linux |
| Binaries | Not code-signed yet | Signed builds |
